About the Artist

Roderic O'Conor was an Irish Post-Impressionist painter who spent much of his career in Brittany and the south of France, yet remained deeply connected to the Irish landscape. Self-taught and fiercely independent, he developed a distinctive style of thick, expressive brushwork and daring colour combinations that set him apart from his contemporaries. His work bridges European modernism and Irish sensibility, making him one of the most important Irish painters of his generation.
