About the Artist

Mildred Anne Butler (1858–1941) was a pioneering Irish painter associated with en plein air practice and the Newlyn circle. Celebrated for sensitive depictions of rural life and seasonal light, she exhibited at the Royal Academy and was elected a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 1937.
