Hillside Heather, watercolour on paper, by Nathaniel Hone the Younger.
A broad hillside of heather in greens, browns and greys rises under a high, pale sky, with a line of fence posts marking the skyline. It is a sketchbook page only 9.3 × 17.2 cm, the texture of the moor built from blotted and dragged washes. It is in the National Gallery of Ireland.
