Isaac Weld made this drawing of Dunloe Castle near Killarney around 1807, in pen and brown ink with brown wash over graphite on beige paper. A graphite note on the back reads "Dunlo Castle – Kerry", the spelling of the day. Yale's catalogue also records it as Dunloh Castle.
About the Artist
Isaac Weld (1774–1856) was a Dublin-born artist and writer, best known for his illustrations of Killarney and its lakes. This drawing is part of the Paul Mellon Collection at the Yale Center for British Art.
