That moment when you realised home wasn't where you left it—Lavery knew it on the French Riviera, and you'll feel it looking at this.
The Terrace, Cap d'Ail
A woman reading in the Mediterranean sun, surrounded by those impossible blues that make you forget Ireland exists—until you don't want to anymore. Lavery painted this in 1921 at the Eden-Grand Hotel on the Côte d'Azur, capturing a fleeting moment of ease that feels both distant and intimately familiar. This is your chance to bring that bittersweet escape home.
About the Artist
Sir John Lavery (1856–1941) was Belfast-born, Dublin-raised, and utterly European in spirit. He spent decades between Paris, London, and the French Riviera, painting society figures and landscapes with a restless elegance. Lavery never stopped being Irish, even when he was everywhere else. His work holds that particular longing of someone who loved travel more than staying still.
