About the Artist
Harry Clarke (1889–1931) was a Dublin-born artist and stained-glass designer whose illustrations became legendary across Europe and America. He trained under his father and quickly developed a distinctive style—dense Gothic linework paired with an uncanny ability to visualise fear and mystery. Clarke's Poe illustrations remain his most celebrated work, bridging Irish craft with international literature. He died young, but his vision endured.
