Collection: Dermod O’Brien
Dermod O'Brien (1865–1945) was an Irish painter known for his landscapes and portraits. His work was featured in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Born in County Limerick, he studied art in Paris, Antwerp, and London before settling in Dublin. O'Brien became a key figure in Irish art, serving as President of the Royal Hibernian Academy from 1910 to 1945. Beyond painting, he held roles as High Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant of County Limerick and served in the Artists' Rifles during World War I. His artistic legacy continued through his family, with several relatives also becoming noted artists.
